Implementing a Custom Tracking URL
What is a tracking URL?
One of the features of Black Pearl Mail is the ability to notify users when a recipient clicks a link in their email (click tracking).
To enable this functionality, Black Pearl Mail automatically wraps links in your email with a tracking link. This allows the system to record when a recipient clicks a link before redirecting them to the original destination.
For example, a link in your email may appear wrapped with a tracking domain such as:
bpmsafelink.com
This wrapped link is referred to as a tracking URL.
Custom tracking URLs
Previously, Black Pearl Mail offered the option to configure a custom tracking URL using your own domain. This required adding a CNAME record to your domain’s DNS.
This step is no longer required and custom tracking URLs are no longer being implemented.
Black Pearl Mail now manages tracking automatically using the default tracking domain. This ensures click tracking continues to work without requiring any DNS configuration from your end.
What this means for you
- No DNS configuration is required to enable click tracking.
- You do not need to add any CNAME records.
- Tracking URLs will automatically function using the default Black Pearl Mail tracking domain.
If you previously configured a custom tracking URL
If you previously added a DNS record for a custom tracking URL, it will not affect your email or website functionality. However, new implementations of custom tracking domains are no longer required.
